What is active citizenship?

Active citizenship is the commitment we make as individuals and as a community to participate consciously, responsibly and proactively in building a better society. Being an active citizen is not limited to voting or complying with laws; it is a commitment to society based on democratic values. It involves informing ourselves, debating, acting and collaborating to promote positive change in our environment.

Research and universities play a fundamental role in its development. This website gathers the research and dissemination work that is carried out from different Spanish universities.

Our goal is to promote active citizenship that transforms the world through research, education and action.

Research allows us to understand the psychosocial processes and social dynamics that influence citizen participation, and to develop strategies and tools that promote citizen action in all sectors of society.

We are currently conducting a research project on the role of the University as an institution in the promotion of active citizenship.
